Reunion Day 2025
The 2025 annual reunion on 27 September in College was well attended once again by alumni from across 8 decades. Blessed by beautiful sunshine, alumni were able to spend time enjoying the College grounds throughout the day and reminisce about their time at College.
The day began with a talk by Catz alumnus Quinton Carroll (1988, ASNaC), now Head of Natural and Historic Environment at Cambridgeshire County Council, on archaeology and topography of Cambridge before the University. After lunch, Professor Peter Wothers (1988, NatSci; Fellow 1998) gave an entertaining talk on the Periodic Table that several members noted helped them, as non-scientists, understand the table’s history and significance.
The Reunion Day also doubles as the Annual General Meeting for the Society, where the Society officers present their reports and the accounts, the Committee are elected and proposals for the coming here are agreed. Outgoing President, Professor Peter Tyler (Fellow 1983; Emeritus Fellow 2020), submitted a written report, detailing his year as President and outlining the success of the President’s Trip in August. Reports from the Chair, Geoffrey Thompson (1971, Music), and, Fellow Member, Catherine Twilley (Development Director, Fellow 2023), were well received and reflected the positive relationship between College and Society. The Treasurer, Hugh McNeill (1996, NatSci), presented the accounts and his report too. The new President, Richard Moat (1973, Law), was duly elected with the presentation of the Presidential Medallion occurring at dinner.
After a delightful evensong with the alumni choir, directed by Andrew Macmillan (1998, Music) and accompanied by Rupert Jeffcoat (1989, Music), sang beautifully, alumni gathered for a drinks reception and excellent dinner in Hall. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening accompanied by the traditional toasts.
