Mr Geoffrey Thompson MA MBA DL
Elected Chair of the Society Committee in 2024, Geoffrey read music alongside Immediate Past
President, Nigel Hess, and spent 45 years in teaching, 22 as Head of two comprehensive schools and, concurrent with the second, a separate special school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Outside the classroom he made major contributions to extracurricular music and to outdoor education, including school Alpine and Himalayan mountaineering.
He is a Deputy Lieutenant in the Greater London Lieutenancy, a member of the Memorial Gates
Council, a General Committee member of the Oxford & Cambridge Club and Chair of its Events Committee, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Farriers and Chair of the Kensington Olympia
Festival of Music and the Arts.
A family man, he has been a governor of both state and independent
schools.

Mr Michael Roberts MA FCA
As a Natural Scientist moving seamless onward into merchant banking and finally into property development in Hong Kong and then London was almost preordained. A stalwart of the College cricket tour for over 30 years maintained a connection while recent activities include being a founder investor in a range of companies targeting recovery of methane from organic waste, non ferrous metals from metal refinery waste and other complex mineral ores, and finally low cost production of hydrogen. History, archaeology and classic cars also feature while the vineyard in Dedham Vale provides new context.
Treasurer
Mr Hugh McNeill MA FIA
Hugh has been a member of the Committee since 2013, and has served as Treasurer since 2021. He brings considerable experience of private equity investing and is currently on the board of four businesses across a range of sectors. Hugh has also held the role of finance director within a registered charity, and is currently also the treasurer of his local community association. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, has a CMIA Certificate in Business Accounting, the Level 4 CFA ESG Investing qualification, and is an Integral Development Coach. He graduated with a degree in Astrophysics.
